Gwyn Bevel joined the KFDX news team in the fall of 2005, after completing her Master's degree in Public Affairs Reporting at the University of Illinois at Springfield. While in the state's capital, Gwyn covered the Illinois legislature for WICS TV 20. Gwyn has known since an early age that news is where she belongs. She attended news camp at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale while in high school, and that sealed the deal that journalism was her passion. She went on to complete her Bachelor's degree in Radio-TV
News and Political Science from SIUC. Gwyn worked for WSIU TV 8 as a reporter, anchor and producer for the entire four years. Because of her active involvement in so many aspects of college, Gwyn was named one of the 25 most Distinguished Seniors of 2004 at Southern, as well as Radio-TV student of the year. Gwyn also received several state and national awards for her work in journalism. Gwyn says her mother is her biggest fan, and she credits her father's involvement in city government for her love of local politics. When Gwyn started with the station she covered city government, where she strived to help viewers understand what was going on downtown and how it affects their lives, as well as how their tax dollars are being spent.
In August 2007 Gwyn became a co-anchor for the 5pm, 6pm and 10pm newscasts with Doug Bilyeu.
As an Irving, Texas native, Gwyn is thrilled to have landed in Texoma. She enjoys being out in the community every chance she gets, whether volunteering, gathering news, or simply getting to know the local folks. In her free time you might find Gwyn swimming, hanging out with good friends or reading.
