GREEN WINE IS HERE, BUT IT ISN'T A DIFFERENT COLOR. INSTEAD, VINEYARD OWNERS ARE USING ECO-FRIENDLY IDEAS TO SAVE ON EXPENSES. ERIN SHRYOCK HAS MORE IN TONIGHT'S TEXOMA GREEN REPORT. This is the Black Ankle Winery. "Not only are we energy efficient, you can nearly eliminate heating and cooling in this building." The vineyard started "going green" with its new tasting room. (Ed Boyce, Black Ankle Winery) "A lot of things we are doing are not more expensive, they are not harder to do, they're actually not even new technology they are old." The building was made of locally milled wood. Straw bales were used for insulation. That alone could save 75 percent on heating and cooling. (Sigi Koko, Down to Earth Design) "I'm interested in all kinds of alternative energy and natural building." The winery hopes their efforts pay off. Pays off in better wine and a better bottom line. BLACK ANKLE'S OWNERS ALSO SAVED BIG ON LABOR. IN EXCHANGE FOR HARD WORK VOLUNTEERS LEARNED HOW TO BUILD. THE REWARD IS A VINEYARD IN A MUCH CLEANER ENVIRORNMENT. I'M ERIN SHRYOCK AND THAT'S TEXOMA GREEN BACK TO YOU.
