  • H1N1 Clinics Wrapping up for Firefighters in WF, Parame...
    Reported by: Sara DiMura

    Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @05:35pm CST

And while they're wrapping up their turn, next in line to receive the vaccine are paramedics, and EMT's from local ambulance companies.

The health department initially had 200 doses, but they’re not sure yet how many they’ll have left to hand out to the next group.

So far, around 50 firefighters have received the H1N1 vaccine, leaving around 150 doses.

Health officials should know by the end of the week how many are left because tomorrow is the last day they're hosting H1N1 clinics for firefighters.

The remaining doses will be given to paramedics and EMT's from Trans Star and American Medical Response.

Today around a dozen firefighters received the H1N1 vaccine.

Some firefighters who have already been vaccinated are recommending it to their fellow first responders.

"This is just a way for us to protect ourselves that way we don't get sick and miss work and we're still able to serve and take care of other people,” says Stuart Sutherland Wichita Falls firefighter.

Once the health department finishes vaccinating firefighters tomorrow they'll tally up how many doses are left.

They hope to setup H1N1 clinics for paramedics and EMT's within the next few weeks.

Around a dozen workers from AMR have expressed interest in the H1N1 vaccine.
