Frederick, Oklahoma is a close knit community.
    But this small town is now dealing with a big loss.
    The short life of 22 year old Army Specialist Jason Dean Hunt came to a sudden end Thursday in Fort Hood, Texas.
    He was stationed there when a gunman went on a shooting rampage.
    Hunt was one of 13 people who died.
    Thirty others, including the gunman, are wounded.
    At Tipton High School, flags flew at half staff to honor Hunt, who went by the name J.D., and is now being remembered by former teachers.

"J.D. was a very soft spoken young man.  He had a very dry sense of humor.  Took a lot to get it out of him. He was quiet, reserved but all in all he was a really good kid. Good young man. Showed up for school and did what he was suppose to do. That type of gentleman,"
says Steve Glenn, Hunt's former math high school teacher.
         
    Glenn says that gentle man, who was voted Class of 2005's Most Quiet Male Student," shocked him when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, served more than a year in Iraq, and married just two months ago.
     
"It's sad.  It's sad that he's not gonna have the opportunity to live out his life," says Glenn.
   
    A life that will be remembered by those who knew him personally and by name only.

"We're going to have a special time during the National Anthem.  We have calls into Fort Sill to get an Honor Guard or something special in that way," says Tipton ISD Superintendent Shane Boothe.

    That special time will be before Friday night's football game against Thackerville.
    And Tipton school officials say other memorials for Specialist J.D. Hunt are in the planning stages.
