  • Help Available to Brodie Dealership Customers
    Reported by: Jason Calder

    Thursday, Apr 10, 2008 @10:11pm CDT

The Texas Department of Transportation, with the help of other state agencies, has pulled the licenses of Brodie Mitsubishi-Kia officially shutting the business down. This after a lawsuit was filed two weeks ago, claiming the dealership owed Mitsubishi more than $1,000,000 and sold at least 50 vehicles without paying the company. Those who recently purchased vehicles could be in for some headaches. Jason Calder has more.

Monica Horton, President of the North Central Texas Better Business Bureau, said, "Brodie Kia had an unsatisfactory rating with us. We have ten complaints on file."

That's how many problems the Better Business Bureau has had with the dealership in the past three years.

Last month vehicles filled the lot on what used to be brodie kia mitsubishi. Now all the vehicles are gone. However, the problems have not vanished.

Adele Lewis, Public Information Officer for the Texas Department of Transportation said, "That's where we need the public's help is finding out how many customers, if any, are involved in any trouble that may be associated with this dealership because closing a dealership doesn't just affect the manufacturer's cars right on the lot."

One of the problems TXDOT is concerned about is vehicle titles.

Lewis said, "So there might be people with paper tags that haven't been paying attention to the date and their tags are expired and they should have already received their regular metal tags from the Texas Department of Transportation."

Loan payoffs, extended warranty policies and GAP insurance policies are other issues consumers might be concerned about.

"We've got a bunch of state agencies that are working right now to take care of the different aspects of the issues that come up," said Lewis.

Consumer complaints about titles, loan payoffs, license plates and registration stickers can be filed with State of Texas Department of Transportation-Motor Vehicle Division Enforcement Section OR the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Criminal Investigations - Wichita Falls District Office (940) 761-4141.
