    Feds Take Over Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac

    The US Treasury Dept. has taken control of troubled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which collectively own or guarantee nearly half the home mortgages in the country. Is this a good idea?
     Yes. It was necessary to stabize the financial industry.
     No. It could cost US taxpayers billions.
