Thus far...the most notable event stemming from the eastward
movement of a trough across the southern plains has been a heavy
shower with a couple of lightning strikes in Atoka county early
this morning. Otherwise...the rain has stayed to the south and east
of our area. Moist air slowly wrapping around the weak trough
should keep clouds across all but maybe far western portions of
the area overnight. This will have the effect of keeping overnight
temperatures relatively warm...as well as preventing fog
development despite light winds. Though fog has been left out of
the forecast for now...anywhere breaking out of the low clouds
could be susceptible to fog for a while Saturday morning.
Very few changes to the forecast were made beyond these. One major model
suggests the possibility of an early week upper trough over the
central United States digging to near the Colorado/Kansas border before
closing off and moving just north of the region. The position of the low hints that we may find
ourselves in the dry slot rather quickly so little or no rain chances for texoma. Another short wave
trough mid week would bring another cold front into the region...again...with
very little chance for rain.
