A new system is now online at the Wichita County Sheriff's Office that makes inmate information much easier to access.

After a person is booked into the county jail the inmate's information, including mugshots, charges and bond amount, is immediately available on the website.

According to officials, the sheriff's office receives more than 800 calls per day, many addressing inmate information.

So, officials say this new system will help reduce the number of calls.

"We only have two people designated to be receptionist and answer the phones. Then, we have other staff that answering phones breaks into their duties.. what their normal business is.. and it's real taxing on the system," explains Sheriff David Duke.

Sheriff Duke says the new system will be beneficial to crime victims, family and friends of inmates, attorneys, bond companies-- and the media.
