Sergeant John Spragins says a woman noticed her wallet was missing and then suspected a man who'd been around her closely. That's when Spragins says she and her boyfriend confronted the suspect. The suspect took off on foot and then took off in a vehicle followed by the woman's boyfriend At around Kemp and Hampstead, Spragins says the suspect slammed on the brakes, and that vehicle was then hit by the boyfriend's vehicle.
The suspect took off driving again, which Spragins says should result in a charge of 'failure to stop and exchange information' He says at that point an investigator from the District Attorney's office happened to be in the area and pulled the suspect over at McDonald's on Kemp.
Spragins says stolen items were found and investigators believe the suspect could be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. That suspect will be booked into the Wichita County Jail after he's released from the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.
UPDATE:The suspect has been identified as 27 year old Dustin Wade Marlar. He's charged with driving while intoxicated and accident involving damage to a vehicle. But police say he also gave them a fake ID and now he's charged with failure to identify. Marlar is in the Wichita County Jail and bond has not been set.
