Missing Girl Found Safe in Texas

By: NBC DFW
Updated: November 20, 2012

The Amber Alert for a missing 11-year-old Texas girl has been canceled after the girl was found safe Tuesday afternoon in Trinity County, KPRC-TV Houston reports.

Savannah Hurley was taken by her mother, Shelley Jean Hurley, Monday night, after a confrontation with Child Protective Services.

CPS was trying to take custody of the girl at the time after her mother failed a drug test, KPRC reports.

The Houston Chronicle reports the child's maternal grandmother, Patricia Rutledge, has been arrested and charged with interfering with child custody in connection with the abduction after she turned over custody of Savannah to the child's mother instead of CPS case workers.
