NHL Cancels All-Star Game, Schedule Through Dec. 14

By: NBC Sports
Updated: November 23, 2012
Stop us if you've heard this before -- following another round of failed CBA negotiations, the NHL has canceled a slate of games and a marquee league event.

This time, it's all contests from Dec. 1-14 and the 2013 All-Star Game, which was to be played at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Jan. 27.

"The reality of losing more regular-season games as well as the 2013 NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus is extremely disappointing," said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. "We feel badly for NHL fans and particularly those in Columbus, and we intend to work closely with the Blue Jackets organization to return the NHL All-Star events to Columbus and their fans as quickly as possible."

News of the cancelations comes two days after NHLPA boss Donald Fehr claimed there was "no reciprocity" from the NHL after the union's latest CBA offering.

The two sides broke off talks on Wednesday, didn't meet Thursday and only had a brief conversation on Friday.
