Christmas for the widow and child of a fallen Fort Sill army soldier will have a bright spot this holiday season.

Christmas decorations were set up at the home of Amanda Alexander and her daughter Lexi.

The Christmas surprise was provided by Christmas Decor, a program that helps decorate the homes of military families for free.

Amanda was nominated by a group of military spouses.

Mary Miller, a supporter of the CARE Team on Ft. Sill, says they are trying to make the holidays easier for the family of an American hero.

"The holidays are still going to come, it's still going to be rough. She's from here in Lawton. He's from Elgin so it's still going to be here no matter what's going on. She can't take off for the holidays. She'll still be here so we want to sort of brighten her day a little bit more," Miller says.

Second Lieutenant Tobias "Toby" Alexander was serving a 9 month deployment to Afghanistan when he died in May from wounds from an IED attack.

Alexander was to return home this week.
