City Nastrike Racing Raises Funds For Families in Need

Hundreds of city workers are coming together to raise funds for families in need this Christmas in a unique way.

It was the 7th annual "Nastrike" championship today.

Different city departments raced against each other along a track on tricycles all to raise money to provide 50 families with a Christmas meal and toys.

And while many different trophies were passed out to the winning groups, the gold wasn't the most sought after prize.

"The bragging rights are highly sought after. They do get awards but for an entire year they get to brag about being number one from the tricycle race," said Barry Levy, the Wichita Falls Public Information Officer.

A hot dog and hamburger lunch also helped to raise the funds needed.

And event organizers say they made over 25 hundred dollars from the day's activity.
