26.2 miles is the distances hundreds of kids at West Foundation pledged to run or walk during the next six months.
And they're doing it through a program called Marathon Kids.
The school kicked off the distance challenge with about 260 students racing around West Foundation's field.
It's just one of eleven elementary schools to participate in the program, which encourages children to develop a love and habit of movement.
"It's just really exciting. Getting kids excited about being healthy, it's about nutrient and getting parents involved with them to get them active," said Julie Henderson, WFISD P.E. Curriculum specialist.
The Wichita Falls High School pep band was also there providing some great tunes for the ceremonial start, along with some parents supporting their little one's first steps in their long distance commitment.
