The storm on Christmas day brought many Texomans to a standstill. Luckily, Wichita Falls street crews say advanced notice allowed them to prepare.

Larry Krugle, Wichita Falls Streets Superintendent said, "We knew it was coming so we took our six ice chat trucks, placed them inside of a building, put two graters in the building and had three plows ready to go."

City street officials say crews put about 60-cubic yards of chat mixed with salt on roadways to improve tire traction for drivers who had to venture out and about on Christmas day. Now that the snow is mostly melted, except for large piles in parking lots, officials say two street sweepers have been out cleaning the chat mixture from the roads while managers prepare for future storms. In fact, city street officials say they placed orders for more chat and salt the day after Christmas.
"I had the material coming from Nacogdoches and also had my trucks go down to near Graham is where we hauled the other material.  We own two types of ice chat that we mix.  We were hauling it all in and those bins are all full," Krugle said.
Full, so crews can spring into action once the next winter storm approaches.
