From sports cars to sedans, coupes to convertibles the future of the auto industry has rolled into Detroit this week for the North American International Auto Show.

It is the one time every year that the collective horsepower of the entire auto industry is inside one garage.

That "garage" is the massive, Cobo Convention Center in Detroit, where crews are putting the final
polish on this year's auto show.

Every size, every style and a rainbow of colors, many of this year's models with a strong tint of green.

"That doesn't necessarily mean electric cars and hybrid cars, although those are out there, but what we're seeing is your typical gasoline engine cars getting really good fuel economy, 30 to 40 miles per gallon, something we've never seen before," says Edmunds.com senior analyst Michelle Krebs.

50 new vehicles will be unveiled at the show, including the new 2014 Corvette, shown for the first time Sunday night.

"I think that will be the star of the show," Krebs says.

A close second might be the array of new luxury vehicles, which these days, come with a lot more than just leather seats.

Mercedes has revamped the popular E-class car  and overnight revealed its first ever U.S. compact, the CLA.
