A 7-year-old girl was thrown out of a pickup truck during a carjacking at a Texas Walmart Wednesday.

The crime happened in a Walmart parking lot in north Harris County, near Houston.

Harris County deputies said the child's mother had just buckled her daughter inside her pickup truck after shopping at the store when two men approached her, forced her away from the truck and took off. At the same time, she was trying to free her daughter from the vehicle.

"I opened the door and I was like, 'My daughter's in there,' and they took off," said the mother, who did not want to be identified.

The carjackers then pushed the girl from the truck before driving off.

The mother and daughter suffered scrapes and bruises but no serious injuries.

Deputies are searching for the suspects.
