Man Arrested for Allegedly Slashing Tires Outside WF Businesses

A 20-year-old man who police say went to a Wichita Falls restaurant and slashed multiple cars' tires.
Derek Shifflet is charged with criminal mischief under $20-thousand and two counts of assault on a public servant.
According to an arrest affidavit, a witness told police she saw a man using a knife to slash the tires of cars parked behind the Red Roof Inn and the El Chico's restaurant on Central Freeway.
The officer who reported to the scene reportedly asked Shifflet if he had a knife, to which he responded yes, and that it was in his pocket.
Shifflet is in the Wichita County Jail on $15-thousand in bonds.
