The United Way is conducting training for its annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

Nine members of the National Civilian Community Corps are currently getting certified to file taxes.

And this service will be available for anyone, free of charge, for anyone with a household annual income of $51,000 or less.

The United Way's VITA program kicks off next Friday at Sikes Senter Mall.

Then, free tax filing begins the next day at 9 a.m. and runs through April 15th.

Although walk-ins are accepted coordinators say it's best to call the United Way's 211 Help Line to make an appointment.

You can do that weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
