Updated: January 23, 2013

The rising number of flu related illnesses has now caused at least one Texoma school to cancel classes.

Plato Elementary school in Duncan will be closed tomorrow and Friday because of the high number of sick students.

The absentee rate is running about 25%.

Meanwhile, Wichita County health officials say this season's flu outbreak caused yesterday's turnout to a late shot clinic to be one of their busiest.

During yesterday's extended hours from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., 25 vaccinations were given.

And they say during the entire day 45 shots were given.

Nurses say as of last night the district has about 275 adult flu shots left.

They are currently trying to get more flu mist for kids in.

For more information on getting vaccinated call Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (940) 761-7841
