Public Opinion Encouraged at Joint Land Use Study

Texoma communities are working with Sheppard Air Force Base this week to find better ways to cooperate and co-exist.
The project is called the Joint Land Use Study.
These studies are conducted at military installations across the country.
They're meant to improve the working relationship between communities and bases.
Officials will identify compatible land use to safeguard future missions and to prevent urban encroachment near base operations and training missions.
It's made possible by a grant through the Department of Defense.
Officials say input for residents and businesses is vital in the study to address compatibility issues including land use, safety zones, noise, light, and more.
Karen Gagne, Wichita Falls planning administrator, says, "This is a great opportunity with our consultants coming into town for an entire week. They will be sitting down having interviews with each of our community partners trying to work to get some additional information. We're close to being finished with our data gathering phase, and that's why it's key for everybody who's available Tuesday evening to come out to the MPEC."
A round-table discussion for the Joint Land Use Study will begin at 6 tomorrow night in room 10 of the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall at MPEC.
Residents of all communities that surround Sheppard Air Force Base and its auxiliary field in Frederick are encouraged to attend.
