Bowie Closer to Hiring New City Manager

Bowie is one step closer to hiring a new city manager.

During an executive session Tuesday night, Bowie City Councilors narrowed down their search for a new city manager to just one candidate.

Officials extended a contract offer to Ricky Tow, the current city manager of Cameron, Texas, after speaking with four other applicants earlier this month.

They've extended him a conditional offer of employment as city manager for a salary of $89,000 a year with a $500 a month automobile allowence.

He is also required to live in Bowie withing 90 days of signing an employment agreement.

Bowie city councilors began their search for a new city manager at the start of the year after current city manager James Cantwell announced he would be retiring in May.
