An 18-year-old man is behind bars, charged in the brutal beating of a man with chronic heart failure.

James Donald Adair is charged with assault family violence and injury to a disabled person.

According to an arrest affidavit, Adair repeatedly hit the victim in the face and choked him until he passed out.

Adair says the victim made an off handed comment about an assault Adair endured while growing up, and that's why he beat up the victim.

Police say the victim had a broken nose, several cuts to his face, a concussion, both eyes were swollen, and he had an injured right hip.

Adair is jailed on $100-thousand in bond.
