United Way Expanding Hours for Free Tax Help

Volunteers with the United Way's free income tax filing program have been so busy this year that coordinators say they are expanding the program.
Since the United Way kicked off the program on January 26th, volunteers have filed more than 1,600 tax returns.
That's more than half of all returns volunteers prepared and filed last tax season and there is still just over seven weeks to go before the April 15th deadline.
So, in anticipation of setting a new record, the United Way is expanding its hours at Sikes Senter Mall to be more accessible to the public.
"We were originally doing it just Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 but starting now we're going it at 1 and we'll be there until 7 and that will be for both walking and appointment but we encourage people to call 211 and schedule an appointment to ensure they don't have to wait too long."
United Way volunteers will also prepare taxes all day Wednesday, February 27th, at Goodwill Industries at 4609 Southwest Parkway in Wichita Falls.
