17-Year-Old Accused of Burglarizing Grandma's House

A 17-year-old is behind bars this afternoon after police say they have reason to believe he burglarized his grandma's house because he doesn't like her.

Joshua Mathis is charged with burglary of a habitation. Officers say the burglary of the home, located in the 4700 block of James Street, happened in December. The homeowner told police she suspected her grandson, Mathis, committed the burglary because she kicked him out of her house.

An arrest affidavit states Mathis broke a back window to force entry into the house and stole several items. When police interviewed the teen, he said he and a friend committed the crime because he doesn't like his grandma. Mathis is jailed on a 25-thousand-dollar bond.
