Two District Two Candidates File for City Election

Updated: February 28, 2013

The deadline to file for the city council election is Friday, and today District 2 seat went from no candidates to two candidates.

Incumbent Annetta Pope-Dotson filed in the clerk's office late this afternoon.

She was elected in 2011 to the seat Dorothy Roberts-Burns vacated because of term limits.

She was born and raised in Wichita Falls and spent most of her 23-year air force career in Germany.

In her first campaign she ran with the goal of beautifying the east side.

Wichita County records show all her overdue property taxes and penalties for 2012 totaling almost $400 were paid today.

Pope did not tell us she paid the bill today, only that she went down to the tax office to check false allegations people were blogging about her back taxes.

Also filing for the District 2 seat today was Donnie Melton.

Melton has lived in Wichita Falls 49 years.

He says he's semi- retired but works at his car body business for fun.

He says he also provides consultant services to different businesses.

Friday is the last day to file to run in the city election.
