Lawton Man Arrested During Funeral Home Viewing

By: Mechell Dixon
Updated: March 18, 2013

The viewing for a man murdered in Lawton more than a week ago takes an unruly turn after police are called to a disturbance at the funeral home.

Saturday around 7 p.m., Lawton police arrested Jeremiah Davis for public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Officials say the charges stem from a disturbance Saturday night that happened during the viewing for 21 year old Lavonte Jackson.

Police were called to the funeral home where Davis, who was reportedly screaming, cursing and noticeably drunk, had returned to the property.

When officers tried to arrest him they say he started fighting them and bothering those who were paying their respects to Jackson.

Lavonte Jackson's funeral was held this afternoon at New Hope Church of God in Christ in Lawton.
