The Midwestern State Mustangs did something they haven't done since 2006 when they the 31st ranked Mustangs beat the 14th ranked Abilene Christian Wildcats 5-4 Tuesday evening at the MSU Tennis Center.

Led by the play of seniors Luke Joyce and Colby Meeks, the Mustangs (8-4, 1-1) stunned the Cats (10-10, 1-1) on the first day of spring.

As MSU's No. 1 doubles team, Joyce and Meeks gutted out a 9-8 win with a 7-5 tiebreaker over the ACU team of Jason Proctor and Borja Cortes.

Then both won their singles matches, as No. 39 ranked Joyce won at No. 1 over the Wildcats' Guilherme Gesser 7-6, 6-1, and Meeks used three sets to win at No. 3 over Proctor 0-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Mustangs also scored with the No. 2 doubles team of freshmen Kyle Davidson and Franko Siljeg who beat Gesser and Nicklas Wingord 8-5.  Siljeg added a win at No. 4 singles over Cortes 7-6, 6-2.

"It's a great win," said MSU coach Scott Linn.  "We got some great senior leadership today.  It's a total team effort and we got some great play from our freshmen, but our seniors stepped up."
