LONE STAR CONFERENCE HANDS OUT POSTSEASON AWARDS

MSUSOFTBALLHONORS2007-05-01-1178073190.jpgRICHARDSON, Texas – Over 70 softball stars were recognized Tuesday as the Lone Star Conference postseason awards were announced by league officials. LSC South Division champion Angelo State put an impressive five players on the All-LSC South Division first team, while a trio of North Division teams – divisional champion Midwestern State, Central Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma – each had three first-teamers. Overall, 72 student-athletes were recognized by the all-conference program, including at least one player from each of the 14 LSC softball teams. The awards are voted upon by the league coaches in each division. ASU, which won the South with a 21-3 record, was represented on the All-LSC South first team by pitcher Kari Galm, first baseman Brittney Cargill, shortstop Macy Baker, outfielder Kandace Kubat and designated player Kaycee Taylor. Also, Baker was LSC South Player of the Year, Galm was Pitcher of the Year, Taylor was Freshman of the Year and ASU’s Travis Scott captured Coach of the Year accolades. Tarleton State’s Brooke Saulters took LSC South Newcomer of the Year acclaim. MSU, North Division champions with an 18-6 mark, placed pitcher Katie Peterson, catcher Lindsey Voigt and outfielder Cheyanne Paschal on the All-LSC North first team. Peterson was the LSC North Freshman of the Year as well, while Mustang coach Brady Tigert earned Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season. Cameron’s Stephanie Bour was the LSC North Player of the Year, while UCO’s Alli Blake was Pitcher of the Year and the Bronchos Hillary Brandt was Newcomer of the Year. 2007 LSC SOFTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS NORTH DIVISION – FIRST TEAM Pos.
