Couple Expected to Plea in Child Endangerment Case

A Wichita Falls couple charged with abandoning or endangering a child appeared in court today.
Twenty-three year-old Daniel Smith and 22-year-old Alisha Smith are expected to make their pleas in the 30th District Court on Feb. 24.
Police say in May, they were called to an apartment on Professional Dr. to check the welfare of children possibly left alone.
They had the manager let them in the apartment and found a 6-month-old baby boy with a wet diaper crying in a bed.
A 1 1/2 year old girl was found crying in another bedroom, and also a 3-year-old boy asleep in a bean bag chair.
Police say they contacted the mother by phone and she and Daniel Smith returned and said they had gone grocery shopping at Walmart.
