Road Closure in Bowie

By: Karel Davis
Updated: September 7, 2012
A busy downtown section of Bowie will be shut down for a repaving job on State Highway 59 between US 81 and Pecan Street. The work begins this Sunday, September 9th, starting at 7pm and wrapping up at six the next morning. And it will be that pattern for the next few days.
This two block section is just part of a much larger project being done by a TXDOT contractor, but traffic in this area is complicated by angled parking
Crews will be milling the roadway and then go back with an overlay of new hot mix pavement.
And then they'll start the striping part. They're working at night so that local businesses won't be affected.
