A sweet treat at a Texoma elementary school celebrates the success of a local teacher.
The hundreds of kids and teachers at John G. Tower Elementary School in Burkburnett surprised Audrey Ash with a celebratory assembly.
Ash is a regional finalist for Texas teacher of the year.
A representative from Blue Bell was on hand to congratulate Ash for this distinction and to provide the more than 600 students with an ice cream party in Ash's honor.
"I just feel so humbled and thrilled to be a representative for our school, our district, and Region Nine," Ash says.
Raymond Krueger, Blue Bell territory operations manager, says, "We feel that education is one of the most important jobs for the students, and it's one of the best jobs anyone can have; to educate our youth."
The winner of the Texas Teacher of the year will be announced next month.
That person will then move on to represent the state in the national teacher of the year competition.
