Texomans laced up their tennis shoes this morning and took steps to find a cure for childhood cancer.
Dozens took part in a 5k walk around the MSU campus and this was the first time "The Curesearch" walk has taken place in Wichita Falls.
Some participated in honor of kids who are currently fighting cancer while others did so "in memory" of little ones who lost their battle.
Cure-search is the fundraising arm of the Children's Oncology Group.
And coordinators say walkers made strides to help the youngest victims of cancer.
"Right now pediatric cancer is extremely underfunded so it's very important to bring awareness to that and to increase funding," Mallory Zarate, a Curesearch Coordinator said.
Coordinators say today's walk raised just under 30 thousand dollars.
Organizers are so pleased with the outcome and support they're already making plans for next year's Curesearch walk.
