Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst makes several senate committee chair appointments and one puts more responsibility in the hands of Sentator Craig Estes of Wichita Falls.

Estes already chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Now, the lieutenant governor is consolidating Homeland Security into his duties.

"It's been reported that there have been many people coming through our international borders in the South of Texas of middle eastern descent. That's very worrisom to me. I'm planning a tour of the South Texas area to see the border situation personally and of course, that's not all that we'll work on but that's gonna be a big part of the border issues," says Senator Craig Estes (R- Wichita Falls)

The 83rd Legilature convenes on January 8th.
