A competition got fired up on this cool Sunday which had young cheerleaders showing off their spirit.

Memorial stadium was full of young cheerleaders chanting this afternoon.

Ten different teams took lessons from members of Midwestern State University's co-ed cheer squad.

And in addition to learning cheers and chants they also got lessons on the more physical aspects of cheerleading.

"We just teach them how to be a better cheerleader, and how to cheer on their team and just make everything happy what a cheerleader should be," said Sarah Adams, an MSU Cheerleader.

After the coaching was over it was time for the competition.

Each team performed a cheer routine.

And the top two teams in each of the three age groups-- left with trophies.
