Two people are behind bars set to be charged with public intoxication after a Clay County car crash.

It happened just after 10 Thursday night near BW Sinclair, a engineering and manufacturing facility, off 287 south near Stephens Ranch Road.

Sheriff Kenny Lemons says the driver stalled the car on railroad tracks.

While trying to get the car out Lemons says the vehicle overheated and a fire sparked.

The Jolly Fire Department worked the blaze while Wichita and ClayCounty deputies and DPS troopers searched the area for the driver.

After a short time, Clay county deputies arrested a man and a woman.

Lemons said the man initially fled the scene, but came back and admitted to deputies his license had been suspended, and he had marijuana in the car and he didn't want to get arrested for it.
