Sheppard Airman Killed in Weekend Crash on I-44

Police have released the identity of a Sheppard Airman killed over the weekend after getting struck by an SUV. 

It happened early Saturday morning in the right hand lane of southbound Interstate 44, just north of Missile Road.Police say 28-year-old Christopher Gatlin Smith of Burkburnett was walking in the roadway around 1:30 a.m. when he was hit by the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith was a Technical Sergeant at Sheppard Air Force Base. 

Police say they do not foresee any charges being filed against the driver of the SUV.
