On the opening day of dove season 1997, authorities in Clay County were called out to North Evans Road where there was a deceased person laying face down on the side of the road.

Authorities later identified that person as Francisco Villegas who was in his mid-20's at the time. He died of gun shot wounds. Clay County sheriff Kenny Lemons says this case ran cold when the case file was lost several years ago.

Melissa Foy examines this case in part three of a target three special four-part series. Join us on KFDX 3 News tonight at 10 for "Cold Case Files" The Murder of Francisco Villegas.
