As more and more schools across the state and the nation are announcing plans to consolidate or even shut down some schools, one Texoma school district is doing the opposite.

Officials with Iowa Park CISD say they hope to expand. They say that's thanks to a 36 acre land donation from the Cryovac division of the sealed air corporation.

Superintendent Jerry Baird of Iowa Park CISD stated, "We plan in the coming years, depending on another positive vote from our voters, to construct a new middle school here on this land that has been donated."

Iowa Park kindergartners were at a ceremony this morning, when school officials accepted the land from Cryovac representatives. District officials say they hope to have the new school built within the next seven years. Those kindergartners would be the first students to use the new building.
