Saturday marked the 15th year Wichita Falls has held the parade.

More than a hundred entries were made into this year's edition, which featured plenty of cars, local celebrities, and of course area marching bands.

Sponsored by Wichita Falls Downtown Development, officials said the parade is their way of giving a gift to the City.

"We're just trying to give back to the City because they support us in so many of our other events, that this is just our gift," said Cynthia Laney, Executive Director of Downtown Development.

In addition to cool cars and candy, this year's parade also featured the new commanding officer at Sheppard Air Force Base, Brigadier General Mike Fantini, who said participating in the annual event made him feel right at home.

"It gives me a sense of inspiration of why the airman out at Sheppard Air Force Base want to volunteer to defend our country," said General Fantini, "it's exactly because of things like this."

Planning for the City Lights Parade begins in June, and takes most of the Summer.

More than 14,000 people attended last year's parade, and officials said they expect this year's total turn-out to top that.
