Embattled Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Junior has resigned from his U.S. Congressional seat.
Jackson, who's been on medical leave for treatment of bipolar disorder, has faced a slew of problems in recent months including a recent probe by federal investigators into his alleged misuse of campaign funds.

Jackson is trying to resolve those problems through a possible plea deal that would allow him to resign for health reasons, serve some jail time for the misuse of funds, repay any funds used for personal purposes, and retain his congressional pension the state of Illinois will hold a special election to fill Jackson's House seat.
