Texas Remains the Place to Be

By: NBC DFW
Updated: November 22, 2012
There is now more data to support the claim that Texas is the place to be. According to a report by Forbes Magazine, 3 of the 5 fastest growing cities are in The Lone Star State.

The report used Moody's Analytics data on the 100 largest metro areas that compared projected economic-growth rates through 2016, the population growth rate, the current population and the median household income to determine their list.

Topping the list was Austin, with a projected economic-growth rate of 6.1 percent through 2016 and a population growth rate of 2.8 percent.  The capitol city has a current population of 1.8 million and a median household income of $56,613.

Second was our own Dallas-Fort Worth, with a projected economic-growth rate of 5 percent through 2016 and population growth of 2.2 percent. According to Forbes, the median income for the 6.23 million people living in DFW is $55,526.
