Rosie began teaching kids out of her garage with little more than some paper and pens. Today, it's grown into its own home, tutoring more than a thousand kids. Through this program, she has brought crime rates down. Her students increased their writing skills by two-point-one grade levels and two-point-nine grade levels in math.
Rosie's garage is a non-profit and runs entirely on donations. Her budget is 152-thousand dollars a year. She gets her computers and supplies from grants as well as companies who are replacing or upgrading their old systems. Next up, Rosie is planning to open two more tutoring centers and add a mobile tutoring unit.
