2 Adults, 3 Children Killed in Northern Ohio House Fire

By: NBC News
Updated: November 27, 2012
Two adults and three children died Tuesday morning in a fire that destroyed a two-story farmhouse in northern Ohio, authorities said.

A truck driver traveling along State Route 162 reported the blaze in Reed Township at 3:17 a.m., said Dean Henry, public information officer for Seneca County.

When firefighters arrived, the single-family home was "fully involved," Henry said.

After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters went inside and found the bodies of two adults and three children - a 12-year-old girl and two boys ages 6 and 8, Henry said. The adults were believed to be the children's parents.

The cause of the blaze wasn't immediately known. The state fire marshal was investigating.

No one else was in the home at the time and no firefighters were hurt, Henry said.

Firefighters from five departments -- Attica, Republic, Huron River, Monroeville and Bellevue -- responded to the blaze, according to The Toledo Blade.
