Wichita County Commissioners are shifting around funds totaling nearly $500-thousand within the county budget.
They're moving money from where it's available and not being used to where it's needed, which is the sheriff's office fund.
Commissioners gave the go ahead for the auditor to move funds from the County Jail Health Insurance Line, the County Jail Departments Salary and Benefit Line, and the General Fund.
Those funds will be used to cover deficits within the County Jail Department.
Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom says, "We did authorize some additional money to potentially be brought in from the general fund to make up if there is a shortfall there, but we won't know that probably for sure until you get all the bills in in January."
Gossom says moves like this are typical at the end of each year.
He says the transferred money will be used for paying personnel, fuel costs, maintenance costs, and repairs.
He also says there will probably be money left over in one of the sheriff's funds, so that will replace what is borrowed from the General Fund.
