Oklahoma prison officials are warning residents that a  murderer has escaped and he should be considered armed and dangerous.

29 year old Jason Bales, who sometimes goes by the alias "Wompass Bales," escaped from the medium security prison in Stringtown yesterday.

He was serving life without parole for first degree murder. Bales was convicted after his girlfriend confessed she and bales killed her mother and buried her in a shallow grave in Oklahoma County in 2006.

Officials say Bales was missing after a check yesterday morning. They say they found no cut fencing or other signs of escape.

Bales is a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall and about 200 pounds with brown hair and eyes. The prison facility is outside Stringtown, between McAlister and Durant.
