The convicted murderer who escaped from an Oklahoma medium security prison is back behind bars after a week of freedom.

29-year-old Jason Bales was captured yesterday in Hugo about 55 miles from the prison in Stringtown. He was reported missing last Monday.

Department of Corrections spokesperson Jerry Massie tells us Bales is now in administrative segregation in the Mcalister State Prison.

Authorities began getting reports from citizens about possible sitings of Bales in the Hugo area and Massie says one Hugo resident reported seeing a man matching his description drinking from a water hose. Hugo police arrested Bales shortly after that report.

No details of how Bales escaped have been released. Bales is serving life without parole for the murder of his former girlfriend's mother in 2006.
