More Texoma counties are enacting or extending burn bans as the drought continues. The light covering of snow some Texoma counties received overnight will not help much with the extremely dry conditions.
Some counties are also banning aerial fireworks for the New Years holiday because of the extreme fire danger. County judges also have the authority to enact a 60 hour emergency ban of fireworks and then ask the governor to extend it.
Wichita County enacted a burn ban last Monday, Foard County joined suit today and Montague today extended for 90 days the ban the judge enacted last week.
This morning Archer County also enacted a burn ban to go into effect tomorrow and also banned aerial fireworks with fins or sticks. Baylor County today extended its burn ban and also banned aerial fireworks. Counties with no burn bans are Clay, Hardeman, Jack, Wilbarger and Young, although Young today also banned aerial fireworks with fins or sticks.
