Unemployment rates continue to decline in Wichita Falls and Texoma with many rates falling to their lowest level in many months.
The rate for the city of Wichita Falls is now below the state average. The Wichita Falls metropolitan statistical area consisting of Wichita, Clay, and Archer counties fell from 6.5% a year ago to 5.4% last month. The rate in the city of Wichita Falls was 5.7%, down more than a full point from last year.
The unemployment number for this region of Texas fell to 5% in November. The rate for the entire state is now below 6%, the third straight month of decline. The lowest jobless rate in this region is in Baylor County at 3.7% with Wilbarger and Jack close behind. The highest rate is in Cottle County at 5.7% and the rate for Wichita County is 5.6%.
