Sutherlands home improvement store is moving lots of its winter essentials to the front of store after Christmas day's snowstorm.
Jeremy Hare with Sutherlands said, "We want to keep at the front of their minds as a retailer but also it's to help them, we know what they are looking for when they come in. That way it's ready, they don't have to spend a lot of time away from their family."
Assistant Manager Jeremy Hare says shoppers have been buying lots of the key items like snow shovels, ice melt, and deicer. Hare says they learned their lesson from the blizzard of 2009 and they made sure they stocked up with plenty of supplies.
"This time of year we make ready for because we know if the odd chance we do get a lot of snow and ice, we're going to need, people are going to want that, need that for their homes," Hare said.
Billy Smiley, Manager of Advance Auto Parts said, "We're in good shape." At Advance Auto Parts, Manager Billy Smiley says the store is already seeing an influx of shoppers wanting to weather-proof their cars. "Right now, they are doing a lot of battery work because cold will zap a battery pretty quick. If it's two to three years old so we're selling a few batteries," Smiley said.
"We've been selling a lot of wiper blades this morning. People didn't de-ice their vehicles good enough, they turn their wipers on and it breaks the wiper blades right them because everything is frozen," he continued.
And as the old saying goes, it is to better to be safe then sorry. Hare told us, "Be ready, even though you don't think you need it in the winter time. If you do need it and you don't have it, people are going to be stranded and hurting for it."
